Clock Angle Calculator

Enter a time to find the angle between the hour and minute hands of an analog clock.

Clock Angle Calculator

Our Clock Angle Calculator finds the angle between an analog clock's hour and minute hands at any given time. Enter the hours and minutes, and get both possible angles — the two hands always split the clock face into two angles that add up to 360°.

How Clock Hands Move

The minute hand completes a full 360° rotation every 60 minutes, moving 6° per minute. The hour hand completes a full rotation every 12 hours, but it doesn't jump instantly between hour marks — it moves continuously, gaining an extra 0.5° for every minute that passes.

Clock Angle Formula

Minute Hand Angle = 6° × minutes
Hour Hand Angle = 30° × hours + 0.5° × minutes
Angle 1 = |Hour Hand Angle − Minute Hand Angle|
Angle 2 = 360° − Angle 1

Example Calculation

Time: 3:15

Minute Hand Angle = 6 × 15 = 90°

Hour Hand Angle = 30 × 3 + 0.5 × 15 = 97.5°

Angle 1 = |97.5 − 90| = 7.5°

Angle 2 = 360 − 7.5 = 352.5°

✓ Angle From Hour to Minute Hand = 7.5°, Angle From Minute to Hour Hand = 352.5°
